Take Five: Simple Ways to Move More Although you should exercise for 30 minutes most days of the week – between board meetings, deadlines and dinnertime with the family – it might not be possible. Here are five ways to make sure you're moving throughout the day. Ẅ Waking up? Try adding a few gentle stretches to help you get going. Once you're warmed up, get your heart racing with jumping jacks or some quick repetitions with hand weights. ẅ At the office? Don't send an email or make a call when you can walk to a colleague's desk to talk business. Considering stepping out for lunch? If possible, bike or walk to that destination, too. w w w.huronregional.org 2012 Curves Complete 90-Day Challenge top three finalists, Betty Thomas, Joan Russell and Julie Miller, pose at last year's SD Women's Expo. Combined, the three lost 56 pounds and 54 inches in just three months! I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I Ẇ Cooking dinner? Add some stretches or squats while you're waiting for that water to boil or pan to heat up. Put away clean dishes and tidy the kitchen to add extra mileage to your step count. (Tip: Aim for 10,000 steps a day.) ẇ Relaxing in front of the TV? Do short bursts of exercise – such as running in place – during the commercial breaks. Get the kids involved, too, by having a dance-off until the commercials end. Ẉ Winding down? Try a series of yoga poses to help you relax and get ready for a good night's sleep.
