November 2007 Frankfort Medical Pavilion—a $10.3 million, three-story, 52,000-square- foot facility for additional physician offi ces and medical services—opened adjacent to hospital. February 2008 Picture archiving and communications system (PACS) implemented for storage of diagnostic images. September 2008 Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) opened with four beds to serve high-risk pregnancies, delivering babies as early as 28 weeks. Getting Better with Age We have added services, expanded our space and witnessed computerization's reshaping of medicine. An evolving healthcare environment will affect our future, but we're well- positioned to meet the challenges of change. Watching children whom you've cared for since they were babies grow up and have children of their own is one of the greatest things I have seen during my time at Frankfort Regional. My career has spanned many years, so I have been able to care for multiple generations. As I walked across the parking lot toward the hospital on my fi rst day as a pharmacist at Frankfort Regional, I was excited and ready to do my best. Most people would be surprised anyone would keep the same job for 40 years, but it's been challenging and interesting work. I've never really considered doing anything else. Linda Grow, RN, BSN Education Coordinator 40 Years of Service I began working in the hospital six weeks before it opened to train staff on using new equipment. Those of us who saw carpet installed and furniture delivered were very proud and excited when the hospital welcomed its first patients. " " I remember helping transfer patients from the old downtown hospital in ambulances, as well as organizing the OR. It doesn't seem possible that was 40 years ago. The hospital has grown so much since then. As a Frankfort native, it's been a joy to care for my community.
