Most Americans know they should make healthier food choices, such as incorporating more fresh fruits and vegetables into their meals. It's the best way to lose weight and prevent chronic diseases. However, more than half of Americans recently told researchers that filing their income tax return is easier than determining which nutritional changes they need to make. One easy way to choose more healthy foods is to shop the local farmers market. "The Midtown Farmers Market is a great place to find produce that is locally grown," says Ellen Michal, RD, certified diabetes educator with the Lifestyle and Disease Management Center at Duke Raleigh Hospital. "Any questions about the way a product was grown can be answered by the producer on-site." MARKET
