many hours of thought and exploration by many experts in the field, and we are confident this plan will provide the most appropriate and advanced care for South Texans. You can follow our progress at ourpathforward.com. I appreciate your support and am extremely excited about moving forward to transform healthcare. Let's get started! Sincerely, Pamela S. Robertson, President and CEO CHRISTUS Spohn Health System to include the most medically advanced trauma and patient suites. Also at CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline, we will build a new 196-bed tower adjacent to the Pavilion. Part of the transformation is moving the Family and Emergency Medicine Residency Programs, associated with Texas A&M College of Medicine, to Shoreline, where medical residents will have the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art hospital with the latest equipment and with highly skilled physicians who perform intricate procedures. This proposal is expected to cost an estimated $325 million, with $275 million provided directly by CHRISTUS Health. The remaining $50 million will come from our generous donors and grants. This incredible transformation of care for Corpus Christi will require absolutely NO tax dollars. With the direct investment from CHRISTUS Health and the philanthropic support that we are confident will materialize, this project marks a commitment to the people of the Coastal Bend that honors the legacy of many amazing people who came before us—The Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, Bishop Dubuis, Dr. Arthur Spohn, and Dr. Hector P. Garcia. Their dedication and foresight helped shape the face of healthcare in our part of Texas for more than a century. It is our honor—and our determination—to meet the healthcare needs for Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend for the next 100 years. Here is the timeline: 2014: Select an architectural team to prepare a design for the facilities on the CHRISTUS Spohn Memorial and Shoreline campuses 2015: Begin construction for the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Family Health Center 2016: The Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Family Health Center opens 2016: Construction at Shoreline campus begins 2017: Construction continues at Shoreline 2018: Construction is completed at Shoreline, including new Trauma Center 2018: Demolition of Memorial For the past 70 years, CHRISTUS Spohn Memorial has served the community and has a warm place in the hearts of many as an old friend and a good neighbor. But healthcare is not about a building; it is about a coordinated effort and network of services and providers who care about people and keeping them well. Technology and care delivery have changed, and our goal is to provide the right care at the right time and right place. CHRISTUS Spohn is committed to continued delivery of services on both campuses without interruption during our construction phase. Our Transformation of Care plan has involved of Care fall 2014
