WELCOME TO THE Winter issue of Vital Signs. I hope you enjoyed a wonderful holiday season with those you care about most. We certainly did at King's Daughters' Health. This past November at the beautiful Clifty Inn at Clifty Falls State Park, the KDH Foundation hosted a "Dancing With the Stars" Gala to raise both funds and awareness for our Hope and Healing Campaign, an effort to raise $4 million to build a new, state-of-the-art Cancer Treatment Center on the new KDH campus. The support from our community was overwhelming. Local businesses donated a wide variety of items to the silent auction, and our "dancing stars" donated the gift of time to practice for and support the event, which was sold out! Many of the attendees were cancer survivors who were able to celebrate their recovery while also giving back to the hospital, and their strength is evidence of the very reasons we are building a new treatment facility: If you need cancer treatment multiple times a week or every day, the cost and burden of travel and time further adds to your stress. The ability to travel minutes instead of hours is a gift of its own. Carol Dozier, CEO Dear Friends and Neighbors, When completed, our new center will be an inviting and peaceful place – a healing environment equipped with the same technologies you'd find in large, metropolitan-area hospitals. And we'll deliver the personal care that people deserve, from our experienced providers all the way down to our very special therapy dog, who will be there to brighten visits. I'd like to extend a special thank you to everyone who attended the event and to everyone in the community who has helped us reach 75 percent of our fundraising goal. Additional gifts are needed to help us raise the funds necessary for the Cancer Treatment Center, and if you'd like to donate, please visit www.hopeandhealingcampaign.org.
