Our local United Way has been serving the community since 1957. In 2014, United Way funded 49 programs at 34 different agencies, thanks to the support of our local donors. For a number of years, the United Way has worked with Altru to help improve wellness in our community. Wellness is one of the United Way's three focus areas in which we award grants. We partner with local agencies and organizations to improve the overall health of the people in our community. Wellness to us includes mental health issues, nutrition and food insecurities, and supporting developmentally disabled individuals in their pursuit of healthy, independent lifestyles.
