Embracing the Fall Season Fall is a time for warm drinks, pumpkins, and beautiful foliage. Your Donations Help the People We Support Consider making a generous year-end gift to CHI Friendship. When you donate, CHI Friendship can cover the costs of unallowable items (as determined by the state), such as rent deposits, furniture, vacation assistance, medical devices not authorized by Medicare/Medicaid (such as hearing aids, walkers, and adaptive equipment), and more. Additionally, with our vision of people living in integrated settings and people we support working throughout their communities, we are struggling to have enough eet vehicles with wheelchair lifts. If we have more lift vehicles, we can continue to assist the people we support with the employment opportunities of their dreams. We are nearing the end of this tax year, and you can deduct your contribution only in the year that you make them. Your tax-deductible gifts go into our General Donation Fund or the Lift Vehicle Fund. When you make your contribution, please check one of the two boxes on the envelope to tell us which fund you wish to support. Your donations truly make a dierence in the lives of the people we support! Send your donation to CHI Friendship in the enclosedenvelope, and learn more about how your donations help the people we support by "liking" us on Facebook. It is also a time for friends, family, and the community to come together for fellowship and celebration. Many unique and fun events happened at CHI Friendship this past fall! In Grafton, the annual Halloween Dance stole the show. Many people look forward to the dance every year. This year's, which was held on October14, was very well- attended. An estimated 115 people came. "This is something everyone looks forward to all year long!" said Heather Jenkins, Halloween Dance committee member and CHI Friendship QDDP. "Some people start planning their Halloween costumes for next year's dance right after this year's dance!" The event was organized in collaboration with representatives from CHI Friendship, Life Skills & Transition Center, and REM, and it was complete with a costume contest, snacks throughout the night, and door prizes. The committee looks forward to growing the annual event and hosting more attendees each year! Brian and Chester bring some Halloween tricks and treats to the Fargo area every year. What once started as a small Halloween get-together with friends has turned into an annual celebration. With the help of their personal advocates, Brian and Chester planned their 2015 party for up to 150 people and oered dancing, a bonre, a cake walk, door prizes, a costume contest, and face painting! "People from the entire community came, including sta members and their families," said Gina Neary, Residential Manager at CHI Friendship. "Brian and Chester remind us to embrace the season and make itmemorable." The event attracts more attendees each year and is a great way to celebrate the fall season with friends andfamily.
