Carol Dozier, CEO Dear Friends and Neighbors, I HAVE SOME exciting news to share with you as we kick off spring here at King's Daughters' Health. Following an accreditation survey in October, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer awarded KDH's Cancer Treatment Center accreditation with commendation as a Gold-status facility, an accomplishment that only 15 percent of hospitals nationwide receive for cancer care. The process is very in-depth and involves a rigorous review of hospital data and our care standards. We are so proud of this accomplishment – and so are the providers at the Cancer Treatment Center, who made our recognition possible. "This is the best nursing staff I've worked with in 20 years," Shawn Glisson, MD, FACP, a medical oncologist here at KDH, shared with me. "Not only are they individually all competent, they're organized in such a way to pull together, and they are all focused on the patient." "To have validation for the quality of care you are delivering is really what this means," William Porter, MD, radiation oncologist, said of the accreditation. "It means that you're delivering quality care to patients, and you're doing things the right way." But it's ultimately our patients who benefit most. "Patients can rest assured when they come here that they are going to get great care from a phe nomenal nursing staff and phenomenal providers," said Andrea Casey, MSN, APN, NP-C, medical oncology nurse practitioner. "They don't have to go to Louisville, Cincinnati, Lexington or any other place. They are going to get top-notch care right here at home." We hope you and your family continue to turn to us, whether you need cancer care or an annual wellness exam. Wishing you wellness, Carol Dozier, President and CEO of King's Daughters' Health ■ Learn more about our Gold-status Cancer Treatment Center at www.kdhcancercare.org.
