JOSEPH HEALTH Meet Thomas Campbell, M.D. Primary Care Physician THOMAS CAMPBELL, M.D. "I have a family of my own, so I know it can be important to parents to nd someone who understands a parent's perspective when looking for a family physician," said Thomas Campbell, M.D., board-certied primary care physician with CHISt. Joseph Health. "I center my practice around the patients, explaining all of their options in a way they can understand and helping them come to the right decision, rather than making healthcare decisions for them." Do you need a doctor? From primary care physicians to a wide range of specialists, CHI St. Joseph Health has you covered. Visit chistjoseph.org/ndadoctor. Better Bones No matter your age, you can take steps to protect your bone health and avoid joining the one-in-four women over age 50 diagnosed with osteoporosis. "Start when you're young," said Charity Karpac, M.D., M.P.H., board-certied internal medicine and pediatrics physician with CHI St. Joseph Health Primary Care. "Make sure you're getting enough calcium and vitamin D, and do weight-bearing exercise regularly. This could be anything from light weight lifting to running or walking." Precautions against osteoporosis can be taken throughout the course of a woman's life. Women approaching menopause should speak with their physicians about bone density scans, for example, so appropriate action can be taken to protect those who are at risk for or who already have osteoporosis. If you are concerned about your bone health, make an appointment with your physician today. Don't have one? Visit chistjoseph.org. Time to Toss When it's time to do a deep cleaning on your house, make sure you're tossing everything you need to. Check the following areas of your home to be on the way to ridding yourself of the clutter. Pantry—To avoid clutter buildup, make a habit of regularly cleaning out your pantry shelves. Toss anything that is out of date. Medicine cabinet—Medications slowly lose eectiveness over time, and some may even become harmful when past their expiration date. Makeup drawer—Some makeup can harbor bacteria after its use-by date. To avoid health hazards, replace mascara every three months, and lipstick and foundation after a year.
