Dedicated to Your Safety Peace Lutheran Supports The FATHER Project The area continues to show its belief in The FATHER Project—the CHI St. Joseph's Health Community Health program helping area fathers learn how to be better dads. A $2,500 donation from Peace Lutheran Church of Nevis is the most recent contribution to The FATHER (Fostering Actions to Help Earnings and Responsibilities) Project. The program started locally in 2011 with the goal of helping children and their families become healthier by encouraging noncustodial dads to be more involved in kids' lives. So far, more than 300 noncustodial fathers have voluntarily enrolled in The FATHER Project, which coaches participants through 12 weeks or more of skills-building classes. As part of The FATHER Project, dads talk about their own journeys and discover ways to nurture and model healthier behaviors for their children. They practice parenting skills, including discipline methods and co-parenting, and have access to educational and job placement opportunities to help them support their children emotionally and financially. Without community support, The FATHER Project would not be possible, which is why contributions like the one from Peace Lutheran Church mean so much. The FATHER Project is open to Hubbard County dads who meet the program's requirements. For information about enrolling or to donate, call 218.225.2063. When you need medical attention, you'll find award-winning healthcare professionals at CHI St. Joseph's Health—including Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) Good Catch Award winner Sherrie Eischens. C HI St. Joseph's Health staff member Sherrie Eischens, RN, ACU, was awarded the Good Catch Award for Patient Safety for the first quarter of 2015 after pointing out that a written order for a patient test from a clinic did not align with the patient's understanding of the test site. Eischens' Good Catch was recently selected from the four quarterly winners as the annual winner of the award. Presented at the MHA's 32nd Annual Awards Ceremony in June, the award honored Eischens because her attention to detail and quick action, which directly prevented a wrong- site surgery. It is the dedication of medical professionals like Eischens that allows CHI St. Joseph's Health to provide the kind of care that gets you back on your feet and back to your life following a medical procedure.
