Blood glucose – A blood glucose test measures the amount of sugar in your blood. High glucose levels may indicate prediabetes or diabetes, serious conditions that require monitoring, proper management and possibly lifestyle changes to help reverse or control effects. Start at age 20 and perform annually. Osteoporosis – Osteoporosis is a degenerative bone disease that can increase your risk of fractures as you age. Utilizing ultrasound technology, an osteoporosis heel screening can compute your risk of osteoporosis by calculating the bone density of your heel. Begin screening at age 65, unless you have other risk factors. Embracing a Proactive Life Just like taking your car in for a checkup, health screenings provide a quick "peak under the hood" to evaluate your body's current condition and discover and treat any potential problems before they start or advance. Divas for a Day Would you and your best friend like to be "Divas for a Day"? Two best friends will be selected to receive a makeover including haircut, color and style; outfit; shoes; makeup and accessories. For more information or to register, visit www.huronregional.org/dayforwomen. Speak with your primary care provider today about the health screenings you've had and which additional ones are right for you, and save the date to attend the SD Women's Expo to take advantage of free and discounted screenings.
