THE TEAM AT KENTUCKYONE HEALTH values your
health, and they know just how much you
value your time. Based on a commitment to
deliver compassionate care that's also effi cient,
KentuckyOne Health is taking a new approach
to the ER treatment process with a pledge to see
ER visitors within 30 minutes of their arrival.
"Patients want and deserve to receive high-quality emergency
care within a reasonable time frame," said Jeff Murphy, vice
president of marketing and communications at KentuckyOne
Health. "This means delivering care that is not only benefi cial for
patients, but also improves the operating effi ciency of our hospitals."
How ERs Operate
With more than 130 million Americans requiring the critical
care of an ER each year, according to the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, the role of the emergency department
has become more crucial for individual as well as public health.
KentuckyOne Health recognizes the unique and vital role
ERs play in health care and the impact they have on the public.
In Kentucky, where more than half of the state is medically
underserved, it's not uncommon for people to arrive at an ER
in need of immediate care and experience wait times of more
than an hour.
In ERs throughout the country, the lack of prompt care
necessary to relieve emergency situations has reached crisis
proportions in many locations, causing overcrowding. This
congestion in ERs has the potential to threaten public health by
compromising patient safety and jeopardizing the reliability of
the emergency care system.

which people were leaving the ER without receiving any care
