LiveUP moment Paige Buckallew, RN MERCY MEDICAL CENTERCENTERVILLE recently received this letter from a patient's mother, Bianca Myers, about Paige Buckallew, RN, who models the LiveUp motto: the highest standard is the only standard, everyday. "Our experience at Mercy-Centerville was nothing short of amazing. It's always scary when you bring your 7-month-old baby to the ER, but the nurses, lab techs and the rest of the sta at the hospital were so comforting and understanding of all our concerns," Bianca writes. "During our time at the hospital, we encountered several fantastic nurses and sta, but Paige Buckallew stands out in my mind. Paige was called to the ER to start an IV on our son who was severely dehydrated. I was told by several nurses that Paige was a pro at starting IVs on babies, so that helped my anxiety (a little). The minute she walked into the room, she was friendly, condent and very calm, despite my being a wreck and my little guy unhappy. She was diligent in her processes, and while she did have to stick him twice due to his veins being so dehydrated, she remained calm throughout the entire process." "Paige's poise and bedside manner turned an experience that was very traumatic for me and that could have been traumatic for my son into a pretty great overall experience," Bianca continues. "I can't say enough good things about the positive impact Paige made on the start of our stay at Mercy-Centerville." 5 Quick Ways to LiveUP Today 1. Replace what you use. Fill the copier or printer with paper. Start a fresh pot of coffee. 2. Donate blood. One pint of blood can save up to three lives. 3. Clean up litter in a park or open space. 4. When someone wants to repay you for something, ask them to pay it forward. 5. Inspire others online! MERCY MEDICAL CENTERCENTERVILLE /// www.mercycenterville.org 7
