Table of Contents 2 CEO Letter Meet Dr. Lange 3 A Quick Transition 4 Regaining Clarity 6 Know Where to Go 7 A Dramatic Turnaround 8 Lifesaving Knowledge Dear Friends, This past summer, Frankfort Regional Medical Center gained national attention when one of our physicians, Amanda Hess, DO, OB-GYN, delayed the induction of her labor in order to assist the delivery of another patient. It is a truly remarkable and singular story, which you can read more about on page 3, but it also displays how the staff members at Frankfort Regional do everything they can to put our patients' needs first. In addition to the daily efforts of each staff member, we are also engaged in hospital-wide efforts to improve care. One example is the work we are doing to receive accreditation as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission, the results of which can be seen in our feature about Ted Sizemore (page 7). And because our mission extends beyond the hospital walls, we are committed to providing tools, like our free risk assessment for heart disease, to help patients take the right steps to prevent illness while they are still feeling well. (See page 8 to learn more.) Enjoy the other articles in this issue of Your Health and please know that we are here for you whenever you need us. Sincerely, Chip Peal CEO, Frankfort Regional Medical Center Jessica Lange, MD, otolaryngologist at Frankfort Regional Medical Center Medical school: University of Louisville School of Medicine Residency hospital: University of Mississippi Medical Center, in Jackson, Mississippi I was drawn to the medical field because: My parents are healthcare professionals, and I saw from a young age how much they appreciated getting to take care of their patients. I chose to specialize in otolaryngology because: It's a unique field that allows me to care for patients of all ages, with a wide variety of conditions. My favorite thing about working at Frankfort Regional is: Everyone here puts our patients' needs first. In my spare time: I enjoy spending time with my husband and two young children. What is one thing you'd like every patient to know about you and/or your philosophy of practicing medicine? I believe in incorporating evidence-based medicine with patients' unique needs to provide the best treatment possible for each of them.
