A Champion of All Things Local The scents, sights, and sounds bursting from Main Street on Friday evenings during the spring, summer, and fall come to our community courtesy of local merchants at the Pendleton Farmers Market. Offering a wealth of locally grown, hand-picked produce, as well as fresh-baked goods, eggs, herbs, and meats, the vendors set up shop with their items and are available to discuss details about how the food is grown or prepared. Members of the CHI St. Anthony team are on hand as well, with an area where shoppers can rest, relax, and chat with one of our nutritionists. "We have been a sponsor of this event for several years and enjoy supporting our community while encouraging healthy living through nutrition," says Larry Blanc, CHI St. Anthony Hospital Director of Communications/Foundation. "Our nutritionists love to share recipes and do cooking demonstrations." For more information about the Pendleton Farmers Market, visit pendletonfarmersmarket.net. Journey Through Wellness Learning ways to stay healthy can be fun for the whole family. On April 14, CHI St. Anthony Hospital will host its third annual spring Passport to Wellness health fair. Swing by the Pendleton Convention Center to take part in activities from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. When you arrive, be sure to pick up your health fair passport that you can get stamped at every community vendor booth you visit, recommends Emily Smith, MSN, RN, Clinical and Community Educator at CHI St. Anthony Hospital. "A filled passport means you've journeyed through our fair, taken part in interactive games, and gained insights about making healthy lifestyle changes," Emily says. "It also means you can enter your name in our prize giveaway." Some of the event's family-favorite activities include planting seeds, taking stuffed animals to their annual checkup, looking inside a Life Flight helicopter, and learning more about the Pendleton Farmers Market. Health screenings are also available. 3
