Q What ser vice s do you offer providers who have e s t a b l i s h e d p r a c ti ce s within Kansas? A: Established providers have a need to maintain clinical privileges at the hospitals and other ambulatory and rehabilitation facilities where they practice. MPR assists providers in establishing privileges at new facilities as well as maintaining privileges at facilities where they currently practice. This service is called centralized verification and allows providers to apply only one time for a number of participating facilities. Q How has your business expanded to include services? What services are you now offering that were not offered before? A: We have expanded services to include allied health professionals. We are seeing fewer providers going into medicine to be physicians, and this decrease in the number of physicians has demanded an increase in the number of allied health or mid-level providers, such as physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, etc. These types of providers require the same assistance as physicians in obtaining privileges to work at different health care facilities throughout the state as well as enrollment in the different health plans. Q Can you give me a brief background on your organizations growth? A: Weve added services in the past year and have doubled the number of providers we service from 1,200 to more than 2,400 providers in our database. We offer credentialing services to more than 44 facilities in the state as well as 30 physician office groups. Q Can you speak to the issue of confidentiality? A: MPR is a trusted source of information for all providers. We hold our employees to a high level of confidentiality standards. I believe providers take great comfort in the ability to provide information only one time to a trusted source and have that source use the provided information efficiently and effectively in securing privileges at different participating health care facilities as well as establishing and maintaining enrollment in the myriad health plans. Speed, security and accuracy are the factors contributing to our success. Q Where do you see outsourcing credentialing in the future? A: The demand for outsourcing services will only increase as providers are faced with accomplishing more tasks in any given day. Our industry is trending toward providing efficiencies for the provider and, thus, allowing the provider to spend more time on needed patient care and less time on the paperwork demands of the process. MPR is meeting that need for providers, and our hope is to grow into other areas that would assist providers in removing the burden of administrative duties and thus allowing the provider to concentrate more time on patient care.
