The residential, agricultural and recreational real estate market has been very strong over the past two years. It seems people are leaving cities and states that place the burden of their inability to budget on the backs of their people. I'm referring to areas in our country where property taxes and income taxes are sky-high. These are often the same areas where COVID, lawlessness, political division, racial division and corruption are also sky-high. Fortunately, our business is not dependent on having high volumes of people, which increases exposure to COVID, in and out of a space-limited area. Our business is just the opposite. We are blessed to be able to sell a rural lifestyle, exactly what people who are fleeing the overpopulated cities are searching for. The great outdoors, wide-open spaces, mini ranches, etc., are more attractive than ever to people who have had enough. Combine these reasons for buying property, with historically low-interest rates, a reasonably strong economy, and the fact that rural real estate remains a very solid, long-term investment, demand for land continues to be on the rise. Still, we are very conscious and sensitive to the dark place our country is currently trending. Americans are worried about losing their jobs to computers or illegals, losing loved ones to a stray bullet from a rival gang, or the Taliban in Afghanistan. But most of all, I think Americans are concerned about losing their rights and their freedom. I pray that we come together as one nation under God so we can begin healing our land through the nourishing fruit of the Spirit, embodying love, joy, peace, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. The bible is not just our guide to running our company; it is also the roadmap for our leaders to make wise decisions that will move our country in the right direction by helping us do what is right according to the truth of God's Word. The reasons for selling are endless; whether it be retirement, liquidating assets, starting fresh somewhere new, the list goes on.
