YES NO Have you ever gone into a store to try on your footwear and then left to purchase that same item online at a site not affiliated with that store? 53% 47% 32% 62% If the store associate asked for your email address at time of purchase, do you provide it? TRENDINSIGHT n 2021 n 2022 20 • Footwear Insight ~ July/August 2022 footwearinsight.com I like to receive discounts, coupons and info about releases. Female 37 I wouldn't mind if they asked, es- pecially if coupons where available. Female 33 I get too many emails already, very picky now with whom to share. Female 40 Why do they want it? If it is for a loyalty thing, then yes. If it is just to send me promotional emails, then no. Female 47 If I'm making a purchase, I will likely make a purchase in the future if I love the shoes, so it's worth it to me to hear from them in the future. Female 36 I like to be contacted about future offerings related to my purchase. Male 51 I do give it when it's a repeat store, and my account or membership is associated with it. I do not give it when it can be linked to SPAM, or risk being shared. Male 43 Some of those sign-ups send way too many notifications. Like daily... Without the option to adjust that to weekly or monthly or something appropriate. Female 43 I don't mind providing an email for reward points and keeping up with sales and products. Female 40 I like to sign up so I'm the first to know about any deals or offerings. Female 35 I am not concerned with being private about my email and am incentivized by potentially saving money by signing up. Male 41 Yes! I don't understand why you wouldn't. Because it's a win-win. Rewards program and coupons. I love saving money. Female 44 It depends on if I get discounts. I can always unsubscribe later. Female 33 I get enough marketing emails already, so unless it's a store I frequent, I usually won't give it. Male 39 If I'm happy with my experience, I'd want to know about sales/events to support them again. Female 31 I hate this more than anything as I know what they will do with it. Male 41 If I like and trust the store, I have no problem being on their contact list. Male 51 I typically provide when a rewards account is available. Male 44 I do if it's a store I will return to. Some other one time visit stores I decline to avoid too many emails. Female 60 I enjoy getting emails with promo- tions from stores where I plan on buying more products eventually. Female 25 Unless they give me compelling reason, I don't see why I should give my email and get flooded with newsletters I don't care about. Male 36 If I find a good fit and great shoe and the store provides good cus- tomer relations, I would likely be returning and would love to stay in touch with them. Female 50 I provide my email address be- cause sometimes you get emails about the products and new re- leases and also discounts or sales! Female 28 I know it's for marketing pur- poses, but I also know that they oen send deals and store events through its channel, which I oen use. Male 51 ey may not have had the color I want. So I'll just go into a store to try on the shoe to get the correct size. Female 39 Price and/or color selection. Female 40 If they are way overpriced, or if the store associates are not kind/dedicated to working with me and I feel that they don't care about making a sale with me (e.g., they would rather check their phone) I will leave. Female 33 ey had the right size, but not the color combination of that shoe in my size that I preferred. So, the shoe design fit, but it was just not available there in that color. Female 43 Simple. Convenience and price. I need new running shoes quicker than most people, due to my high mileage training, so being able to order extra pairs online is convenient. Also, if I can find the same shoe online for $20 to $25 cheaper, that's a savings of almost $50 when buying two pairs. I'm loyal, not dumb, as far as finances. Male 43 If they have better colors online that I prefer and know they fit but the store cannot order them for me at all or in a timely manner. Female 30 To my shame, I have done this once. I don't do it any more. Male 43 I usually go with helping the community unless there is a better deal online. Female 40 Only if there was a significant difference and they were not willing to match. Male 43 I was informed they had alternative colors or styles that were not in the store. Female 35 I don't have a lot of extra disposable income and I run a lot and go through shoes pretty quickly, so finding the best price is paramount for me. Sometimes stores will match online prices and I will buy the shoes there. Sometimes they don't and I purchase online. If money is no concern I would prefer to support independent (non-chain) brick and mortar stores. Male 40 e associate was rude and didn't even really care about the products they were selling. Female 44 The price different was so great as to be offensive. I think a store offering services like fitting and alternative shoe suggestions should make a profit, but if the question is $25 in my pocket or $25 to the store on a ~$100 purchase, I'm typically going to look out for my interest. Male 54 I admit I have, but it's almost always due to size and/or color options. Male 39 Sometimes it's cheaper online. Some of it depends upon the employees in the store. If they are helpful or act put out. Female 49 at's not cool. Male 43 May have le unsure and decided once I had time and space to consider and didn't want to travel back to store. Female 36 No, I have loyalty to the store, I'm not that type of person...they don't support brick and mortar, I do... I love them.. Male 51 Price. Female 37 e price and that is it. If the store would price match there is NO reason not to buy from them Male 49 Only one time ever. It was a specialty shoe and I wanted to see if the fit/material was worth the cost, but I had a personal discount for the online site I ended up purchasing from. Female 32 Depends mostly on whether the price seems reasonable. Some markup is fine. Sometimes the price is double the online price. Male 45 I haven't done this frequently, but when I have it's been for a significant price savings Male 39 The price and the coupons available at other stores. Female 26 I wasn't ready to make the purchase. Male 46 If the staff has a poor attitude/behavior or if they don't have the exact thing I need. Male 43 Only if the product was overpriced or the older version was no longer available at the store and only available online. Typically, especially for a local running shoe store, I make my purchase at the store. Male 46 In regards to providing an email address, why or why not?
