4 • January/February 2023 sportstyle • sportstylemag.com OUTDOOR / INDUSTRY BUZZ In December, performance mountain brand Arc'Teryx opened a Pinnacle brand store at 149 5th Ave in New York City. e brand says it is opening the shop with a "focus on leading design innovation in the outdoors." Located in the Flatiron design district in Manhattan, the new store occupies 6,600 square feet and features a wide array of Arc'Teryx products, including the brand's Veilance and System_A collections. Veilance is described as "outdoor gear for the city environment," and System_A as "disruptive next-generation outdoor apparel." The NYC store is the 26th Arc'teryx retail store in the U.S. It reflects the brand's continued Direct-to-Consumer growth. According to Delaney Schweitzer, Chief Commercial Officer, in 2022 Arc'teryx had 10 store openings, renovations or relocations across North America. In 2023, the brand is aiming for 15 new store openings. "is is a key step in our journey to connect with our guests in a meaningful and personalized way, tailoring the way we show up in markets across the world to offer the highest level of service and share our love for the mountains," stated Schweitzer. n Vermont-based outdoor headwear and accessories brand Turtle Fur announced that it has officially become a Certified B Corporation (B Corp). Becoming B Corp certified means that a company is committed to using business as a force for positive change. To achieve B Corp certification, Turtle Fur underwent a lengthy review of their business practices and operations, measuring the effect those have on their people, their community, and the environment. e results are scored, and companies must meet a minimum score to achieve certification. Becoming B Corp certified indicates that a company is committed to using business as a force for positive change.
