Magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound has been found to be similar to radiation therapy for treating bone cancer. We also examine physician recruitment and grooming strategies that can help ensure your practice will continue to thrive after you retire. In addition, we take a look at the potential benefit to practices of focusing on ancillary services. And we put a spotlight on several clinical mobile apps that are meeting healthcare professionals' and patients' demand for connectivity. Thanks again for your feedback and submissions. If you're reading this online, you can see her article, "An Overview of Chronic Kidney Disease Education," by clicking here: http://viewer.e-digitaledi tion.com/i/147745. I wanted to provide you with a quick bio of Cheryl, to give her the proper recognition she deserves and that we meant to place in the previous issue. Cheryl Casamento, APRN-BC Cheryl worked as a nurse in various clinical settings for more than 20 years before pursuing her Master of Science in Nursing. While working toward her advanced practice degree, she enjoyed her work with dialysis patients. After graduating, she began practicing in primary care. The opportunity arose to work with renal patients, and she happily accepted a position as Clinical Care Coordinator. Cheryl manages and coordinates care between Kansas Nephrology Physicians and primary care physicians throughout Kansas, providing diagnosis-specific education as well as education regarding treatment options, medications, laboratory values and access. She also assists in the transition from late-stage to end-stage renal disease and the initiation of dialysis with Fresenius Medical Care. Cheryl believes process improvement and proactive patient education lead to improved outcomes for patients as well as reduced healthcare costs. She has developed and implemented CQI projects aimed at process management and enhanced patient outcomes. We thank Cheryl for her hard work!
