++++++++++++++++++++++++++ + + ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT +++ +++ for EHR R and Practice Management EGISTRATION FOR THE Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Program is now open in Ohio. Eligible professionals can receive up to $63,750 over a maximum of 6 years of participation in the program as they adopt, implement, upgrade, or demonstrate meaningful use of certified EHR technology. If you haven’t already ‘connected’, now is the time. For professionals who have adopted the eClinicalWorks EHR software, help is available locally through Comprehensive Practice Resources (CPR). Based in Uniontown, Ohio, CPR is a practice management services organization which specializes in customizing and streamlining eClinicalWorks to solo and group practices’ workflow processes. They also ensure that their clients meet the requirements — including ‘Meaningful Use’ — for Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentive programs. “eClinicalWorks is a top-ranked, certified and accredited comprehensive EHR system. CPR is a medical billing, collec- tions and practice management company that specializes in eClinicalWorks and in working with both solo physicians and large physician groups which have adopted or are planning to adopt this EHR system,” says Leanne Knight, Certified eClinicalWorks Trainer at CPR. “We make eClinicalWorks ‘plug and play’ and ensure that it meets the ongoing requirements and recommendations for incentive payment programs. And we also help physicians with billing and collections.” CPR for EHRs According to information on the ohio.gov website, for the purposes of the Medicare and Medicaid Incentive Programs, eligible professionals must use certified EHR technology. Certified EHR technology gives assurance to purchasers and other users that an EHR system or module offers the necessary technological capability, functionality, and security to help them meet the meaningful use criteria. Certification also helps providers and patients be confident that the electronic health IT products and systems they use are secure, can maintain data confidentially, and can work with other systems to share information. “eClinicalWorks is certified,” says Leanne. “However, that’s just one piece of the puzzle. The practice must also show that it’s using this EHR system in a way that meets the government’s criteria for ‘Meaningful Use’, and that’s where we come in.” 48 | Cleveland-Akron-Canton MD NEWS MDNEWS.COM JULY-AUGUST 2011
