3 CRHEALTHCARE.ORG More an a Hpital As 2016 begins, Columbus Regional Healthcare System (CRHS) looks forward to a year of growth and enhanced service at every level of care. "We are working hard to bring even more high-quality healthcare providers to the area," says physician outreach coordinator Stephanie Miller. "Our goal is to provide the community with a robust network of options so families don't have to travel far to receive excellent care." At the top of the to-do list is the relocation of urgent care services, which will be led by Larry Burroughs, PA, and Marie Campbell, DNP, two hometown care providers who are well-acquainted with the community. Hematologist/oncologist Kenneth Fink, MD, has also joined the team to provide advanced cancer care to patients and families. CRHS is also opening a comprehensive pediatric clinic in early 2016, offering general pediatric services as well as sub-specialty care. Bringing to mind images of sterile enclosed spaces and deafening noise, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has not always had the most comforting reputation. But new technology available at Columbus Regional Healthcare System (CRHS) is changing the game. The GE Optima ® MRI with Caring Suite uses Silent Scan Technology and a comfortable, wide chamber to provide patients with a nurturing experience. Patients may be moved into the scanner feet-first and enjoy colorful displays of their favorite scenery and soft music during the procedure. "The goal is to put patients in charge of the environment while also capturing the most accurate, detailed images possible," says Jason Beck, MBA, director of ancillary clinical services at CRHS. "There is no need to drive for hours to get access to the most sophisticated technology available." For more information about the MRI Caring Suite, visit crhealthcare.org/mri. Here's how we did more to provide better, safer care in the communities we serve. TOUCHSTONE AWARD WINNER CRHS was awarded a Bronze Touchstone Award by Carolinas HealthCare System. This award recognizes the work we've done to reduce the number of infections caused by clostridium difficile and urinary tract infections from catheter use. "Quality and safety are always on our minds, and this recognition just highlights the work that's been done here to improve patient wellness," says Terry Beasley, chief nursing officer at CRHS. "We've also done a lot to help patients who are at risk of falling, and the Hospital has gone more than 1,700 days without a single case of ventilator- associated pneumonia." Beasley credits streamlined processes and our hardworking team of providers and support staff for CRHS's quality achievements. A new team member, vice president of quality Terri Veneziano, MSN, RN, will help carry that legacy of patient safety into the future. IMPROVING CLINICAL CARE The addition of new patient services was also front and center in 2015. A new GE Optima ® magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with Caring Suite was installed on-site, and the Columbus Regional Urgent Care clinic began helping patients who need non-emergency treatment outside of regular business hours.
