Angela's breast cancer journey began late one summer night. The then-43-year-old registered nurse rolled over in her sleep, and the simple motion caused pain severe enough to wake her. Puzzled, Angela began searching for the source of her pain the next morning and found a lump in her left breast. She quickly scheduled an appointment with her physician. Subsequent testing at CRHS revealed she had stage III breast cancer. "Because Angela was aware of how her body normally looks and feels, she was able to notice the change in her breast," says Kenneth Fink, MD, a hematologist/ oncologist at CRHS who began overseeing Angela's care in November. "Her experience underscores the importance of paying attention to your body. Even if new symptoms seem insignificant, they're worth bringing to your doctor's attention."
