INSIGHTS MERCY WHEN INTEGRITY CALLS For Heather Reinhart, BSN, RN, medical and surgical nurse for CHI Mercy Health, making decisions based on core values isn't something she learned on the job—it's a life choice and one she hopes to pass on to her three teenage daughters. Heather recently received the Corporate Responsibility Program Award, a quarterly recognition, for making the right choice when she found herself in an unusual situation at work. "When I signed into a software application and realized I had access to les that seemed condential, I knew something was wrong and reported it immediately to Human Resources," says Heather. "One of my life mantras is to question everything and another is do the right thing, so what I did wasn't heroic. It is an honor to receive the Corporate Responsibility Program Award, but I was just staying true to the person I try to be every day on the job and at home." A dedicated CHI Mercy Health team member since 2009, Heather enjoys bonding with her colleagues and committing to making local health care great for her neighbors, friends, and family. When Heather isn't saving lives during her 12-hour shift, she is embracing each moment with her daughters, whether they are playing sports, camping under the stars, or enjoying time at the lake. "I know these moments are passing by quickly, because my eldest will graduate high school this year," Heather says. "I want her and all my girls to take small decisions seriously. Then, when the time comes to make big decisions, integrity will be part of their souls."
