OUTFITTING STUDENTS WITH THE SUPPLIES THEY NEED IS EASY ON YOUR WALLET WITH A SCHOOL SUPPLY LOAN FROM NORTH ALABAMA EDUCATORS CREDIT UNION (NAECU). THIS YEAR'S TAX-FREE WEEKEND IN ALABAMA KICKS OFF FRIDAY, AUGUST 5. SIMPLIFYING Bac-t-Schoo• SHOPPING EACH YEAR, the state of Alabama give shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain back-to-school items without paying state sales or use tax. This can have a noticeable impact when making larger purchases, such as computers, printers, or tablets. Other items tax-exempt during the weekend of August 5 through August 7 include: → Clothing items costing $100 or less → Computer so ware and storage media (single purchase of $750 or less) → School supplies, including binders, paper, and writing utensils → Books costing $30 or less "One of our most popular loans is our 0% School Supply Loan. I especially recommend it for anyone looking to purchase more expensive items like a computer or iPad for the upcoming school year," says Stephanie Ezell, Marketing Director at North Alabama Educators Credit Union. "Tax-free weekend is a great time to use that loan because it helps you get the most for your money without emptying your wallet." Visit revenue.alabama.gov/salestax for a complete list of tax-exempt items. Local sales and use tax may still apply in some communities. MAXIMIZE YOUR SCHOOL PURCHASES ON TAXFREE WEEKEND WITH A SCHOOL SUPPLY LOAN. VISIT NAECU.ORG FOR AN APPLICATION. ONE OF OUR most popular loans, the School Supply Loan celebrates its 10th anniversary this summer. From July 1 to September 30, NAECU members can apply for a $500 loan with 0% APR* to use for any worthwhile purpose, including back-to-school shopping. A 10-month term maximum applies to the loan, which members repay through payroll deduction. "Profit-driven banks aren't interested in offering low-dollar loans because such loans aren't moneymakers," says Greg Olmsted, President and CEO of NAECU. "As a credit union, we are owned by and exist solely to serve our members, and the School Supply Loan is the clearest illustration of the value of this. The loan was approved by the members of our voluntary Board of Directors, most of whom are current and former educators. They know teachers and parents have a significant financial burden at the start of each school year. The School Supply Loan offers valuable assistance at a time when it's needed most." *With approved credit APPLY FOR A 0% INTEREST SCHOOL SUPPLY LOAN ONLINE AT NAECU.ORG OR IN PERSON AT ANY NAECU BRANCH. A $25 APPLICATION FEE IS REQUIRED. LOANS ARE LIMITED TO ONE PER MEMBER. As Easy as 1, 2, 3 3 NAECU.ORG NOT FOR PROFIT, NOT FOR CHARITY, BUT FOR SERVICE
