Dear One Health Readers, How quickly the summer passes. I hope you had an opportunity to explore the wonderful outdoor activities across Kentucky and spend quality time with loved ones. There are many ways to stay safe, fi t and healthy, and one way to help keep your children that way is to outfi t them with a properly fi tted bike helmet. KentuckyOne Health recently donated approximately 800 helmets to schools across Kentucky to help ensure that children stay safe. For adults, cooler autumn temperatures provide an invitation for us to be active and maintain a healthy diet (see page 9 for tips). Just remember to use sunscreen for you and your loved ones as you participate in outdoor events throughout the fall. KentuckyOne Health is committed to supporting parents and families as they navigate important steps to keep kids healthy during the school year. From ensuring that children are up to date on vaccinations to scheduling an annual checkup with a physician, as well as advising on the right protective gear for sports and eyeglass prescription for the classroom, we are a partner in wellness education for parents and families across Kentucky. There is nothing more important than the health and wellness of our children. As a health care chief administrative offi cer, human resources executive and mother, I see the impact that poor health can have on a child, along with the stress and anxiety it can have on parents. I encourage you to take the time for preventive screenings and wellness preparation to keep your family healthy and happy.
