At HRMC, we do everything we can to make expectant mothers comfortable. My wife and I delivered two of our children at HRMC and I wouldn't have chosen anywhere else." – Nathan Loewen, MD, chair of HRMC's OB/Peds committee “HRMC is small enough to offer a personal touch – our whole staff knows most of our patients by name. However, we’re big enough to offer patients the latest technology,” says Jean Mitchell, RN, CCE, CBE, maternity nurse at HRMC. “The comprehensive nature of our services makes care more convenient, allowing parents to focus on what is most important – their child.” If you’re expecting an addition to your family, let HRMC baby you and your baby, too. Visit www.huronregional.org/babyu to sign up for the exciting amenities available through our Baby U Maternity Club. Congratulations, Cuties! Earlier this year, a baby who was a true gift to her family received a few gifts of her own when she was voted winner of Huron Regional Medical Center’s Cutest Baby Contest. More than 1,300 people voted online in April and selected Sophia Liu-Kott as the Cutest Baby. Sophia was born to Jerry and Star Kott of De Smet, S.D., on Christmas Day in 2011. The adorable winner received a certificate, keepsake onesie and blanket, $100 photo studio credit, $200 savings bond, and a starring role in an HRMC TV commercial. Justin and Becky Picek’s son, Owen Patrick – who “always has a smile on his face,” according to his mother – was first runner-up. Thanks to all of the families whose beautiful babies participated in the contest for making the choice a tough one! To view the entries, visit www.huronregional.org/cutestbaby. Keep Up with Our Progress HRMC’s new clinic building is beginning to take shape on the former St. Martin’s school site to the south of the main hospital. The clinic, which will open in Spring 2013, is designed to house as many as 10 HRMC physicians specializing in: orthopaedics; general surgery; ear, nose and throat care; family medicine; internal medicine and pediatrics. These specialists include current HRMC physicians and others who are currently being recruited or are students and residents who have agreed to join HRMC over the next decade. Scan the QR code to track our progress and see up-to-date photos of the clinic construction!
