Dedicated women's health providers Michael Brunsman, MD, and J.D. Ward, DO, both OB-GYNs with CHI St. Anthony Hospital, as well as nurse practitioner Katie Morioka, WHNP, are accepting new patients. They offer a variety of services, including: Annual checkups and Pap tests Breast health and cancer screenings Infertility care Menopause management Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery Pregnancy care and delivery Treatment of pelvic pain "Routine gynecological care reduces the risk of preventable diseases," says Cheryl Pearce, MSN, RN, ME-BC, CPHQ, Director of Physician Clinics at CHI St. Anthony Hospital. "For women who are pregnant, regular obstetric care improves outcomes, helping mothers and babies be healthier. As a center in a rural community, one of our goals is providing increased access to patient care for these important services." EDUCATING AND TEACHING In addition to wellness visits, the Women's Clinic offers lactation and education services such as breast-feeding classes, childbirth classes, and a mother and baby support group. Inpatient and outpatient lactation consults are also available. "It's important to have evidence-based care and friendly people providing it," says Elizabeth Michael, RNC-OB, IBCLC, nurse and lactation consultant. "Having a comprehensive program like the Women's Clinic here allows more women to access vital services close to home." The Women's Clinic is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Walk ins are welcome. A Complete Source for Women's Health At the CHI St. Anthony Hospital Women's Clinic, women of all ages can get the primary and obstetric care they need. 3 Lactation Help on the Go A new mobile lactation services van, with an exam room and counseling space for pregnant and nursing women, is on its way to rural communities in Eastern Oregon. The Mobile Lactation Center will serve as a a partnership among Umatilla-Morrow County Public Health, Yellowhawk Tribal Health, and WIC. The Oregon Office of Rural Health is assisting with funding.
