It's never too early to make your health a priority. Bring the whole family and join us for our Community Health Fair this spring. Join CHI St. Anthony Hospital on April 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pendleton Convention Center for a Community Health Fair sure to be fun for all ages. More than 60 vendors will have booths and activities for both children and adults, all promoting health and wellness. "One of our most popular events is the teddy bear clinic," says Emily Smith, MSN, RN, clinical and community educator at CHI St. Anthony Hospital. "Kids can bring their bears or dolls to get checked out by our providers and see the treatment process up close. It's a good way to help children become more comfortable with routine medical care." Younger health fair visitors can also participate in a seed- planting activity, with planter cups they can design themselves. GET HEALTHY Adults have a chance to get in on the fun, with relaxing activities such as yoga and massage therapy. They'll also have an opportunity to have their vision checked, get certain lab tests, and pay it forward at the American Red Cross blood drive. "If people want lab tests such as lipid screenings, they should come to the health fair with an empty stomach," Emily says. "That's not the case for those who wish to give blood. We recommend signing up to give blood ahead of time on the American Red Cross website." Other activities include a car seat safety check, tours of a Lifeflight helicopter, fire truck, and ambulance, and a bike-safety activity with the Pendleton Bike Club. CPR class information will also be available. For more information on the Community Health Fair, visit sahpendleton.org. CHI St. Anthony Hospital recently purchased a mobile trailer to use for car seat checks at community events. Now, families won't have to travel to the hospital to have these done.
