Over 4,000 Lives Changed! Weight Management Center The team at the CHI St. Joseph's Health Weight Management Center is dedicated to helping you live a healthier life. D iets, exercise plans, do's and don'ts—there's no doubt about it. The road to weight loss can be a daunting one, and giving up can often be the easy way out. But losing pounds successfully is about more than forcing your body to follow habits and a schedule that feel unnatural. Sometimes medical conditions, such as a thyroid disorder or medication side effects, make managing weight impossible without the intervention of a medical professional. That is where CHI St. Joseph's Health Weight Management Center can help. Offering a full spectrum of nonsurgical and surgical solutions, the interdisciplinary team works in partnership with each patient to create an individually tailored, realistic weight management plan. "For more than 15 years, we have been a resource for anyone who wants to lose weight, no matter what challenges they may be facing," says Leah Walters, RDN, LD, CDE, CHI St. Joseph's Health Weight Management Center Bariatric Director. "We do not judge. We listen to what issues are causing the patient to struggle and help them with solutions." A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO HEALTH A patient's experience with the CHI St. Joseph's Health Weight Management Center typically begins with a medical workup and in-depth assessment to determine factors that may be causing an individual to be overweight. Surgeon Daniel Smith, MD, (front row, center) leads the CHI St. Joseph's Health Weight Management Center Bariatric Surgical Team. "Everyone's metabolism and brain chemistry are dierent, so we have to learn each patient's triggers. We help them identify the dierences between physiological and emotional hunger and build strategies to treat each." LEAH WALTERS CHI St. Joseph's Health | www.CHISJH.org 8
