Contributions of $10 or more received on Giving Hearts Day were matched by Dakota Medical Foundation and other generous donors up to the first $4,000. This year, we raised $10,000 during Giving Hearts Day! We were looking to raise $4,000 for a new EKG machine for our in-patient rooms and are now blessed to be able to purchase this lifesaving piece of diagnostic equipment. In addition, we were looking to raise the additional funds needed to purchase a new pulmonary function test (PFT ) machine for our Respiratory Therapy Department. The PFT Machine is used to diagnose lung diseases, such as COPD and asthma, and to evaluate a patient's lung capacity prior to surgery. CHI Mercy Health does about 100 of these tests per year. With the additional $6,000 raised during Giving Hearts Day, we will now be able to purchase the PFT Machine as well! Giving Hearts Day included an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hospital lobby, featuring Valentine treats, hot cocoa and cider, and laptops set up for assistance with online giving. That evening, the Foundation Board and Hospital staff hosted a Free-will Spaghetti Supper at the Valley City Eagles Club from 5 to 7 p.m. The event, which was co-hosted with our partner organization, CHI Home Health at Home, raised $750 per organization! The supper included special music, a photo booth, and St. Valentine's Day gifts and balloons for kids. Thank you to everyone who participated in this 24-hour online giving campaign! Gratitude CHI Mercy Health employees Amanda Chase and Alana Wendel share what charity (CHI Mercy Health Foundation) they loved on Giving Hearts Day. Exciting News! CHI Mercy Health was recently named one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States. The Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals play a key role in providing a safety net to communities across America. Hospitals with this designation scored highest on iVantage Health Analytics' Hospital Strength INDEX®, the industry's most comprehensive rating of rural providers. "This achievement validates our commitment to providing the best health care possible to our community, while maintaining an efficient and effective facility," says Keith Heuser, Hospital President. "I am extremely pleased that our staff is being recognized for their commitment to outcomes, patient safety, and the patient's experience here."
