diphtheria and pertussis vaccine are recommended at ages 11 or 12. Common contagious illnesses, including the flu, spread quickly in schools, so make sure all family members receive a yearly flu shot in September or October before the season peaks. During puberty, hormone-driven body changes and new emotional patterns signal growth toward adulthood. While some individuals may begin to exhibit signs of puberty as pre-teens, most people make this transition during the early teen years. A primary care doctor can answer questions about physical changes and sexual health and can also provide important perspective regarding common related behavioral challenges. Parents who observe signs of poor self-esteem or depression, such as eating disorders, self-harm, substance abuse or reckless behavior, should be aware that Inspira Behavioral Health Services offers a full range of services for children, adolescents and adults, from family therapy and outpatient counseling to emergency crisis services and inpatient treatment. Inspira Health Network offers a variety of child and adolescent behavioral health and rehabilitation services. • Inspira Health Center Vineland offers an Early Intervention Program (EIP) for children up to age three who are eligible for New Jersey Early Intervention Services (NJEIS) based on developmental delay(s)/disability. The NJEIS, under the Department of Health, provides Early Intervention Evaluations at no cost to families in the child's natural environment. An Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) is developed for eligible children based on the family's priorities and concerns. Early intervention services — which may include developmental intervention, speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy and family training — are provided in accordance with the IFSP to support the family/caregiver in enhancing the child's capacities. The NJEIS referral number is 888-653-4463. Inspira Kids Rehab Care offers individualized speech (including bilingual Spanish/English speech therapy), physical and occupational therapies for infants and children with orthopedic, developmental or neurological diagnoses, including autism, sensory processing disorder, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and traumatic brain injury. • Inspira Medical Center Woodbury's Children's Behavioral Health Center provides support and guidance through inpatient or outpatient programs for children and teens struggling with mental or behavioral disorders. These include an acute, short-term intensive treatment program that is less disruptive to the lives of children and their families than inpatient care. Pediatric speech therapy is also available at Inspira Medical Center Woodbury. • Inspira Health Center Bridgeton offers inpatient programs, partial hospitalization, advanced children's crisis intervention and intensive outpatient programs, including a new therapeutic nursery program for children ages 3 to 5 who need behavioral health services. Outpatient counseling is also available. Learn more at www.InspiraHealthNetwork.org/behavioral health. For more information about Kids Rehab Care, visit www.InspiraHealthNetwork.org/rehab. Special Support Just for Kids Inspira Health Network provides outstanding care to children and families in partnership with Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children. Annual sports physicals give your child's doctor an opportunity to look for any potential medical or orthopedic conditions that might make strenuous athletic activity unsafe. Schedule your child's sports physical six weeks prior to the beginning of a new athletic season. Inspira Urgent Care Centers provide pre-sport physicals — no appointment necessary.
