Inaugural Family Picnic A picnic in the park for all staff, volunteers, people we support and their families to have fellowship, connect and embrace core values together. Fargo—Thursday, July 30 Grafton—Thursday, Aug. 27 A Four-Day Celebration The CQL reaccreditation process not only showcased CHI Friendship's services—it also offered an opportunity for the people and families we support, staff members, and other stakeholders to come together and celebrate our organization. The four-day reaccreditation featured many highlights, including a special VIP event and award ceremony designed to recognize each person we support who took part in the reaccreditation focus groups. Each attendee enjoyed a day off and addressed the crowd by saying a few words. For Lynn and Viola, the event offered an exciting first: Neither had ever used a microphone. "CHI Friendship embraces and values each person we support," said Dori Leslie, Vice President of CHI Friendship. "It's a blessing to support them. The VIP event allowed us to give them a small token of our appreciation." LIVING OUR VALUES The Shared Values component of reaccreditation focuses on each organization's mission, vision, and values and seeks to determine if the organization lives its mission and values in daily interactions. Before CQL arrived for the site visit, we completed a 75-page self-assessment that outlined how we value each person's life and role in the community. "When CQL assesses Shared Values, we talk with people who are involved with the organization to get a feel for how the organization puts their values into action," said Becky Hansen, Vice President of Accreditation and Training at CQL. "From board members and direct support sta to family members and community partners, the sentiment was echoed that CHI Friendship really 'walks the walk.'" A MEANINGFUL LIFE Safety, security, and access to food, healthcare, and nancial resources comprise the Basic Assurance criteria, while the Personal Outcome Measures consist of 21 quality-of-life standards outlined by CQL that focus on determining whether supportive services are appropriately customized to help people fulll their individual goals and dreams. We have taken our commitment to Basic Assurances and Personal Outcome Measures one step further by emphasizing employment opportunities and establishing a 22nd personal outcome measure unique to CHI Friendship: People Express Spirituality. Je Pederson, President, CHIFriendship Save the Date Mark your calendars for the following events at CHI Friendship. More information to come. CHI FRIENDSHIP /// www.chifriendship.com 4
