Goals for Future Reform The strategic initiatives of the expansion of CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System will serve as a springboard for future advancements to our brand as a health care system for all. DOTS ON THE HORIZON By continuing to focus on outpatient care, we foresee opportunities to expand our services to rural areas by moving forward with two goals: 1. Developing more space for physician care does not stop with our current expansion model. More and more rural areas need to gain access to the platform of technology and services we provide, and we will extend our reach to serve those areas. 2. Reform is not just about extending access. We want to think more creatively and turn new opportunities in medicine into strategies to specialize the access we provide. Telemedicine technology, which is the use of telecommunication and computers to reach beyond a geographical area, affords us the opportunity to optimize space while promoting new services to rural areas that may have previously lacked convenient access. Health care reform continues to shift, and we will shift alongside it, building bridges of innovation along the way. CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Jasper Memorial will anchor the region's rural market and will offer more primary care, expanded general surgery services and the most advanced 3-D breast imaging services available today. ADDING A MICRO-HOSPITAL We see micro-hospitals as a pivotal next step for health care, and we will soon house one in Mid County that will feature inpatient and outpatient services, an emergency department and a physician's office building. With 25 to 40 hospital beds, this new space will continue to serve community needs. This new approach helps treat short-term patients while transferring patients with more intensive needs to a larger hospital. Health care reform has provided us the opportunity to expand our level of care. CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System will continue to deliver the highest level of technology and patient services through its current and future expansion plans.
