Breaking Ground on a New Era of Health Care Everyone has his or her own way of celebrating the arrival of spring after a long winter. This year, Huron Regional Medical Center welcomed the season by turning the earth at the site of a new HRMC Clinic building. Workers began construction on the 24,000-square-foot, $4.7 million building in March. By the time the structure is furnished for its physician occupants, it will represent a $6 million investment in the health of our community. The project is expected to be complete in spring 2013. "The construction of a new HRMC Clinic building had been part of HRMC's strategic plan for several years, but we felt like now was the best time to make the facility a reality," says Jim White, chair of the HRMC board of directors. "We recruited several physicians during the last year, and many participants in our physician recruitment program will begin practicing here in the next one to seven years. With these additions, we needed a facility that would give physicians the space they need to continue to offer high-quality care." "Outpatient medical care is becoming an increasingly significant part of patients' overall health care," says White. "The new HRMC Clinic building will allow us to lead this trend."
