Strategic Planning Initiatives We had great success on our Strategic Plan Initiatives for 2015–2016. We accomplished so many things that will make services better for people we support. Here are the highlights to celebrate: GROWTH Develop comprehensive Alzheimer's awareness, education, and options for the aging DD population. Our goal for the Strategic Plan was to develop awareness and education regarding Alzheimer's disease. During the past year, the committee has done several things to increase our knowledge of Alzheimer's. First, we collected data on people we currently support who have or may potentially have Alzheimer's to provide a focus for what their needs are or may be. Members of our committee attended a few dierent conferences that provided Alzheimer's awareness and education to be shared with sta and to help guide plans for the people we support. QDDPs will have reference binders to use as needed for plan development and sta education; awareness bookmarks have been made for all sta. PEOPLE Streamline job duties within the DSP role to be able to provide more direct support time. Our goal for the Strategic Plan is to take a close look at all the expectations and duties of the DSP role. We identied a long list of responsibilities, most of which are nonnegotiable and must be completed. However, we did nd several things that we can eliminate from the day-to-day operations, such as van checks every other week instead of weekly, implementing "no meeting week" at least two times a year, and eliminating the double documenting in Personal Advocate binders and T-Logs. These are just a few of many things that were identied, eliminated, or changed. EXCELLENCE CHI Friendship will continue to reduce turnover and increase employee satisfaction as measured by our Performance Culture Assessment. We had three main goals for this strategic initiative. First, we had all DSPs take a survey to gather information about the following areas: 1) what motivates DSPs to work for CHI Friendship 2) what is valuable in DSP lives and 3) what makes a good coworker. Second, we made a poster with all the survey results to be posted in all sites to show the positive reasons why DSPs work at Friendship. We wrapped this goal up with all sta participating in a positive SComm activity. QUALITY Implement all The Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) Person-Centered Excellence (PCE) action plans as required. All action plans are either complete or close to being complete. All information has been shared with our Leadership Team and should be shared with all sta throughout the company. A lot of hard work and dedication was put into all PCE plans to enhance services for each person we support. CHI FRIENDSHIP /// www.chifriendship.com 6
