3 Meet Katie Morioka, Nurse Practitioner Born and raised in Pendleton, Katie Morioka has returned to practice as a women's health nurse practitioner at CHI St. Anthony Hospital Family Clinic. In 2015, Katie graduated from Frontier Nursing University (FNU) with a master's degree in nursing, with her focus in being a women's health nurse practitioner. She is also working on her clinical Doctorate in Nursing Practice, and is expected to finish later this year. Katie will be seeing women of all ages, from puberty onward, for all manner of women's health concerns. A particular area of interest for Katie is genetic testing for cancer markers, and she is working with other OB/GYNs in the area to obtain the education and support necessary to provide this service in the community. From offering annual women's health and pelvic exams to providing some primary care for women, she is here to support the women of Pendleton in both wellness and trying times. "It's all about trying to make healthcare accessible to patients. Coughs, colds, minor injuries—we have someone available to see people with those complaints every day, and they're in the same building as many of our specialty services. We want people to know they can come to the CHI St. Anthony Hospital Family Clinic for their healthcare needs." — Cheryl Pearce, MSN, RN, ME-BC, CPHQ, Director of Physician Clinics at CHI St. Anthony Hospital WHO'S NEW? Because we are expanding our services to better serve the healthcare needs of the community, we have a number of new providers at the CHI St. Anthony Hospital FamilyClinic. Malcolm Townsley, MD, is an internal medicine specialist who joined our practice last October as Medical Director for the CHI St. Anthony Hospital FamilyClinic. Lohith Reddy, MD, is providing internal medicine and primary care. Karen Worzel, MD, is a family practice physician who will be joining the Family Clinic later this summer. We also have three family nurse practitioners who cover most of our walk-ins and provide primary care services. Wade Hunsaker has been with the Family Clinic since it opened, while Lisa Johnson and Jing Wei joined last year. LOOKING AHEAD "We're growing to try to provide primary care for the Pendleton community," Cheryl says. "We want to move toward a healthier community overall. One of our newest initiatives is our community health workers, who help patients navigate the healthcare system andalign them with resources such as medical equipment, transportation assistance, and referrals to other providers or resources." While the Family Clinic is not an urgent care facility, we do oer same-day and walk-in appointments. To ensure you are seen in a timely manner, it's best to call ahead of time to see what availability is like. The clinic is alsostriving to be open later in the evening and on weekends, depending on physicians' schedules. To check current hours or to schedule a same-day appointment, give the CHISt.Anthony Hospital Family Clinic a call at 541-966-0535.
