KentuckyOne FOR ALL TWO SATURDAYS in October were special dates for philanthropists. The Oct. 15 Yes, Mamm! 5K drew more than 600 supporters to RJ Corman Railroad Group in Nicholasville for the second annual race, which supports free mammograms for people who can't afford them. And on Oct. 29, a record- breaking crowd dressed to the nines filled the Lexington Convention Center for the 28th annual gala, which has raised more than $1.3 million for Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation programs since it began. Yes, Mamm! 5K One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, yet many skip regular mammograms that could diagnose the disease at its earliest, most treatable stage. Barriers for some low-income women may include an inability to travel or afford the insurance copay. Since the Yes, Mamm! 5K began, it has raised funds to help 1,500 women and men in the Lexington area overcome those obstacles and obtain potentially lifesaving breast cancer screenings. The Foundation raises about half of the Yes, Mamm! program budget through the 5K race, which takes place in a picturesque setting in Nicholasville and includes recognition of survivors, food, prizes and more. The Foundation also raises funds for the program through "pink partners" via third-party events, grants and corporate sponsors. Evening With the STARS Gala Spanning 28 years, the Saint Joseph Association for Renowned Services (STARS) Gala has become a well-loved tradition for supporters of the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation. This year's memorable evening was presented by PNC Bank and entertained a record crowd of more than 500 people with a four-course dinner, silent auction and lively dance floor. "It was a magical event," said Tracy Colon, gala chair. "Friends from across the Lexington community celebrated Saint Joseph Hospital's achievements and recognized clinical leadership and community volunteers while raising funds for a great cause." Plans for the next Yes, Mamm! 5K on Saturday, Oct.14, and the STARS Gala on Saturday, Nov. 11, are already underway. Visit KentuckyOneHealth.org/WaysToHelp for upcoming event information. HEARTWARMING SUPPORT MADE TWO MAJOR SAINT JOSEPH HOSPITAL FOUNDATION FALL EVENTS — THE YES, MAMM! 5K AND THE EVENING WITH THE STARS GALA — HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL WAYS TO BRING HOPE, HEALTH AND HEALING TO THE COMMUNITY.
