S a i n t J o s e p h L o n d o n & B e r e a F o u n d a t i o n s THE SAINT JOSEPH LONDON and Berea Foundations have a rich history of inspiring community support to improve area health care. Since 1989, the philanthropic arm of the Saint Joseph Hospital, part of KentuckyOne Health, has hosted and organized events to raise awareness and funds. The goal is to bridge the gap between medicine and compassion. The Foundation works to fund programs and projects that may not have been possible without generous support from donors. Our two winter galas are critical to those efforts. Saint Joseph London Foundation Gala On Feb. 4, the Saint Joseph London Foundation hosted a Mardi Gras-themed celebration at the London Community Center. Co-chaired by Karen Hyde and Missy Reid, both with Legacy Nissan, the event began with cocktails at 6 p.m. with dinner, dancing and a silent auction following. Music was provided by the band Kudmani. Silent auction items included an African safari for two, as well as a trip to the village of Saint-Jean-de-Cole in the South of France. Past events have provided funding for new programs and technologies, including maternal and neonatal care simulation mannequins and 3G transmitters for Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County. "We are proud of our partnership with the Foundation and thankful for the opportunity to provide these services to the residents of Laurel County," said Terrence Deis, president of Saint Joseph London, part of KentuckyOne Health. "The funds raised have helped save lives, expanded services and allowed Saint Joseph London to provide safe, high-quality care to our community." The Gala for Healing and Hope On March 4, the Saint Joseph Berea Foundation will host a similar fundraising event. The Gala for Healing and Hope, chaired by Stephanie Moore with White House Clinic, will be held at the historic Churchill Event Space at 6:30 p.m. The energetic band Encore will provide music for an evening of drinks, dinner, dancing and a silent auction featuring treasures such as a trip to Saint-Jean-de-Cole in the South of France, local art and jewelry. Tickets are $125 each or $1,000 for a table of eight. Funds raised at past events helped expand supportive services and bring new technologies to Saint Joseph Berea, part of KentuckyOne Health. Those include the purchase of a Lucas chest compression device for the emergency department. For sponsorship information about the London Gala, call Meredith Boarman at 859.313.1704.
