Keeping kids active
Kids embody the good things we look forward to.
Growing is every kid's job, and it's up
to us, the adults, to make sure they get
to their fullest potential. Working with
our communities, Cohen Children's
Medical Center addresses all sorts of
obstacles to give youngsters their best
possible future.
Olivia faced an aggressive tumor with
our team by her side (see page 4). Now
the hospital's newest ambassador, this
funny, fearless tween gives other kids
something to smile about.
At 15, Matthew was the first to
receive a kidney transplant at
Cohen Children's (see page 12). The
Far Rockaway teen quickly rebounded
from surgery and is back playing ball.
When a young man's infection grew
grave, his medical team took an
extreme measure
called ECMO
(see page 6). He
rallied, recovered
and went on
to speak at the
hospital's 20th
anniversary
celebration of
providing this
radical treatment.
You'll find more hopeful stories in
these pages, plus plenty of resources
and tips to help keep your family
healthy. That's what it's all about for
us here at Cohen Children's.
