One Mother's Happy Return W hen Cade, the younger of Amy and Wayne Chrebet's two sons, started kindergarten, Amy missed her little one so much that she knew she wanted another child—and there was no doubt in her mind where she would give birth. Rebecca Cipriano, MD, board-certified obstetrician/ gynecologist Amy—whose husband retired from his NFL career as a wide receiver with the New York Jets in 2005—gave birth to Cade at CentraState Medical Center in 2004. She decided to return to CentraState to give birth to their third child based both on her positive experience giving birth to Cade and the fact that her obstetrician/gynecologist practiced at the medical center. Rebecca Cipriano, MD, FACOG, obstetrician/ gynecologist with Healthy Woman OB/GYN and on the medical staff at CentraState, has been Amy's physician for 10 years—long enough that Amy says appointments with her are like going to see a girlfriend. "Amy was a model pregnancy patient," Dr. Cipriano says. "She stayed in excellent shape throughout her pregnancy, gained a healthy amount of weight, and kept up to date with all of her screenings. Despite being older than 35—which is considered advanced maternal age—her third pregnancy and delivery were her easiest yet." Amy naturally delivered a third son, Griffin Tanner, on Sept. 20, 2011. Today, she enjoys the special times she and Griffin spend together during the day, as well as attending her older sons' sporting events with Wayne. "I tell all of my friends to deliver at CentraState," Amy says. "The nurses are wonderful, and the food is great; it's like ordering room service at a hotel. I wish I could have stayed at CentraState longer after giving birth to Griffin—it was like living in a nice, calm bubble for a couple of days!" HD Amy Chrebet's husband Wayne played in the NFL from 1995 to 2005. Amy Chrebet—wife of former New York Jets wide receiver Wayne Chrebet— shares her thoughts about what it's like to be the spouse of a professional athlete. Healthy Directions: What do you miss most about Wayne's playing days? Amy: We made a lot of good friends. In the NFL, most players are playing so far from their homes that other players and their families are really all they have—that's even truer for the wives. As spouses, we supported each other. When players retire, it's tough to maintain those connections because everyone tends to go back to their home states. Healthy Directions: What is your favorite family-related memory from Wayne's career? www.centrastate.com Spring Baby Fair in April! If you're starting a family— or are already on your way— you won't want to miss CentraState's Spring Baby Fair on Thursday, April 26, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. For more information or to register, visit www.centrastate.com/babyfair or call (866) CENTRA7 (866-237-8727). Amy Chrebet and her husband Wayne, a former New York Jet, delivered their two youngest sons at CentraState Medical Center. Amy: When our oldest son, Luke, was about 3 years old, he got to fetch the tee from the field after kickoff of one of Wayne's games. He was so tiny, and to see his name on the big screen and hear everyone cheer for him was a proud moment for us. March/April 2012 3
