Main St.). The carryout- only location is the first of two stores hatching this year; an opening in New Center is antici- pated late this summer (6500 Woodward Ave.). The menu shouldn't be a surprise, given the name — the focus is on all things poultry, from buttermilk-fried chicken to chicken tikka and a ginger gar- lic Japanese-style fried chicken. Those choices and more are served over waffles, smothered biscuits or as sandwiches. There's also a serious selection of sides — smashed sweet potatoes with Michigan maple, black-eyed peas, gorgonzola maca- roni and cheese, sweet vinegar coleslaw and cinnamon apples. A lunch special offers any sandwich, a 5-ounce side and a can of Faygo for just $8.50. Family specials are also available for dinner. DELICIOUS DONUTS Last week, Detroiters got their first taste of Dilla's Delights straight from the oven as the famous donuts finally found a brick-and-mortar home across from the Detroit Opera House on the first floor of the Ashley Building (242 John R St.). Donuts from owner and head baker Herman Hayes have been available for a couple of years at places like Cafe Con Leche, Goodwell's Natural Food Market, Parker Street Market and Red Hook Cafe. Now the uncle of the late hip hop artist J. Dilla, working with partner Mike Vanover, has his own place to sell the donuts while he also works to open his own kitchen. Currently, Hayes is cooking in the Avalon International Breads commercial kitch- en. The brand was named for his late neph- ew, who died in 2006 from a rare blood disease, days before the release of his hit album "Donuts." TERRIFIC THAI This fall, luxury apartment complex The Albert will welcome the second Go! Sy Thai in the city of Detroit (1214 Griswold St.). The restaurant is the fast- casual adaptation of the successful and thriving Birmingham-based Sy Thai, which has been around since 1993 and has also expanded to locations in Troy and St. Clair Shores. Expect a 29-seat space similar to its Midtown location (4240 Cass), which offers a slightly condensed version of the full sit-down menu but also boasts deliv- ery to the surrounding areas. Staples like fried rice, curry and noodle dishes will all be available, made-to-order, as well as their soups and spring rolls. Owner Cedric Lee anticipates finding a successful home in Capitol Park, tell- ing dBusiness its menu of classic Thai, as well as a number of gluten-free, vegetar- ian and vegan options, make Go! Sy Thai a logical fit for the neighborhood. BACCO SPECIAL This week only, Bacco Ristorante is offering a special three-course menu for just $34 in celebration of its 14th anni- versary (29410 Northwestern Highway, Southfield). Begin with a choice of three antipasti: either a classic chopped salad, buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes, or house-made sausage and onions. The second course is a choice from five of its signature entrees: chicken breast, Lake Superior whitefish, braised short rib and polenta, gnocchi or hand-rolled pasta with sausage and truffle. Finally, for dessert, enjoy profiteroles, tiramisu or a gelato parfait.
