Recognizing Commitment On September 22, 2011, the Wound Healing Center at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center was rededicated and renamed in honor of longtime Board member Reverend Thomas T. Patterson. "AN ANONYMOUS DONOR gave a $750,000 gift to ensure that the legacy of Patterson's contributions to Claxton-Hepburn and the Ogdensburg community lives on," says Cindy Clusen, executive director of the Claxton-Hepburn Foundation. "Tom Patterson has served on the hospital's Board of Directors for more than three decades and played an instrumental role throughout the history of Claxton-Hepburn." Additionally, Patterson has been a member of the Claxton-Hepburn Linda Griffi n, Rev. Patterson, Maureen Missert, chair, CHMC Board of Directors, and Mark Webster, CHMC President and CEO at the dedication of the Reverend Thomas T. Patterson Wound Healing Center. Foundation Board of Directors since 1991, and he is currently serving as the Foundation Board chair for the second time. Patterson also co-chaired the Foundation's Development Council with Edward B. Hackett and helped raise more than $6 million for the Foundation's Campaign for Care. Patterson's guidance has led to contributions that molded the development of the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center and the Dr. Ravinder N. Agarwal Renal Center. Rev. Patterson also played a key role in inspiring Dr. E. Garfield Claxton to give $7.5 million to Claxton-Hepburn. Friends, family, Board members, donors, and physicians gathered on September 22 to recognize Patterson's commitment to Claxton- Hepburn at the rededication ceremony. The Gift of Health During this season of giving, show your support for the healthcare services upon which you rely by making a charitable donation to the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Foundation. THROUGH OUR COMMUNITY'S dedication to generosity, Claxton-Hepburn has continued to provide advanced health care. To make giving easier for donors, Claxton-Hepburn offers a number of planned giving options. • Bequests leave all or part of a donor's estate to the Foundation. Donors may designate that their bequests be directed to specific departments or services. It is beneficial to the donor and the hospital to work out the details of these restrictions in advance. Please notify the Foundation of your wishes so that staff can ensure that your wishes are carried out and that you are recognized now for your future giving. • A charitable gift annuity allows a donor to give a sum to the Foundation that will generate fixed income for the remainder of his or her life. The Foundation retains the remainder of the annuity in support of the hospital. "A charitable gift annuity is good for anyone who has concerns about adequate income level but still wants to leave a legacy to support his or her favorite organization," says Cindy Clusen, executive director of the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Foundation. "If donors have an interest in making a long-term deferred gift to the Foundation, we will work with them individually to create a plan to meet their needs and support the hospital's future goals."
