Celebrating
Together
Detroiters in
Israel gather at
Tel Aviv Moishe
House to enjoy
Thanksgiving.

D
etroiters in Israel enjoyed
a traditional American
Thanksgiving dinner,
thanks to a former Detroiter now
living in an Israeli Moishe House
and the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit.
Residents of Moishe Houses,
found worldwide, receive subsi-
dized rent in return for creating
programs aimed at young Jewish
adults.
Ben Goutkovitch was a founder
of the Royal Oak Moishe House and
lived there two years. He moved
to Israel in September to study
at the Rimon School of Music
and Contemporary Jazz in Ramat
HaSharon.
He wanted to continue the
Moishe House experience and,
luckily for him, a resident of the
"MoHo" in Tel Aviv moved out
right before he arrived. He inter-
viewed with the other two residents
of the house and was warmly wel-
comed.
Goutkovitch reached out to
Yoav Raban, who works with
young adult Detroiters in Israel on
behalf of the Jewish Federation, to
see what they could do together.
Goutkovitch joined Federation's
"Detroiters in Israel" group, which
Detroiters and friends gather at
the Tel Aviv Moishe House for a
traditional American Thanksgiving
dinner.
