Get a sense of the company's degree of formality and plan appropriately. 2. Prepare. Prepare. Prepare: Plan out responses to common résumé-based and behavioral questions. Practice telling your story, making mental notes about key highlights. 3. Sell yourself: Stay focused on yourself and the strengths you can bring to the organization. Amplify what makes you unique to the needs of the position, including precise real-life examples from past positions. 4. Research: Look up salary ranges in your fi eld. Use that information to create a holistic compensation package that includes important perks like benefi ts and fl exibility. But don't negotiate before getting a formal job off er. — B.K. Ace the interview Whether you're new to the process or making a career move after several years, interviewing for a job can be a nerve- wracking endeavor. Preparation is key. Mind some simple guidelines and you can be on your way to nailing the interview. WFH: Benefi t during tax time The small business landscape is a vast one, incorporating nearly 29 million U.S.-based businesses, with roughly 50 percent of these companies being home-based. There's good news for home-based business owners: Recent tax reform has kept in place most of the previous business expense deductions, along with a 20 percent deduction of qualifi ed business income.
