The World Economic Forum recently designated emotional intelligence as one of the primary attributes employers will most desire by 2020. Nine years later, 72% of the participants reported very large increases in decision making and 60% in quality of life, while 58% displayed major improvements in infl uence. The numbers don't lie. While the traits of emotional intelligence previously might AACREDITUNION.ORG | 19 EQ represents how we regulate and manage emotions in our brain to steer desired outcomes. Organizations clearly have begun to see the value of emotional intelligence in place of the practical knowledge and technical expertise that were previously differentiators for employers. In 2005, the FedEx Express Global Learning Institute integrated emotional intelligence assessment and development through a six- month worldwide program for new managers. have been "nice to have" for employees and businesses, the ability for people to understand and connect with others is now indispensable to organizations.
