Looking for additional work, applying for federal assistance or reassessing savings are all smart actions to take during this time. But it's also a time to stay vigilant. As you fill out those applications, reviewing financial portfolios or navigating financial assistance, personal data is being shared. It's the perfect condition for fraudsters. These scammers are trying to trick you into revealing sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and other personal information. Whether it's spoofing (read more on Page 48) or phishing, here are tips to keep you safe from scammers looking to take advantage of the COVID crisis: Beware of emails impersonating health organizations, financial institutions or federal agencies. Don't reveal personal data in an unsolicited email or phone call. Pay attention to URLs. Malicious websites are created to look similar to financial websites you use every day, with only a slight variation. Do not open strange attachments.
